- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine fresh blackberries, granulated sugar, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Stir gently and bring to a gentle simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in buttermilk to form a soft dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough on top of the simmering blackberry sauce. Cover the saucepan and reduce heat to low, cooking undisturbed for about 15 minutes.
