Ingredients
  

For the Syrup
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries quarter them
  • 10 leaves fresh basil tear leaves
  • 1/4 cup honey adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar offers tanginess
  • 1 cup filtered water
For Serving
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda adjust for personal preference
  • optional add-ins fresh lemon juice, pinch of black pepper, basil or strawberry for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Quarter fresh strawberries and tear basil leaves. Combine strawberries and basil with honey and filtered water in a mixing bowl. Stir until honey is dissolved.
  2. Cover the bowl and let the mixture rest at room temperature for about 10 minutes to infuse flavors.
  3. Stir in apple cider vinegar, cover again, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours or overnight.
  4. Strain the syrup using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean jar.
  5. To serve, fill a glass with crushed ice, pour in 2-3 tablespoons of the shrub syrup, and top with sparkling water or club soda. Garnish with basil or a strawberry slice.
