Cooking Steps
  1. Coat the protein by tossing thinly sliced beef, chicken, or tofu with cornstarch until evenly coated. Set aside.
  2. Sear the protein in a large skillet with heated oil for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  3. Sauté minced garlic and grated ginger in the same skillet for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Prepare the sauce by whisking soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and hoisin sauce, then pour into the skillet. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Combine the seared protein with the sauce and allow to simmer for another minute to heat through.
  6. Add cut green onions just before serving to enhance freshness. Cook briefly until wilted.
  7. Serve the sizzling mixture over cooked rice or noodles. Optionally top with sesame seeds and chili flakes.
