Step-by-Step Instructions for Simple Beef Stew
  1. Begin by washing and peeling the carrots, then chop them into thick slices.
  2. Cube the beef chuck roast into 1-inch pieces, ensuring even cooking throughout.
  3. Dice the onions and wash the potatoes before cutting them into quarters.
  4. In your crockpot, start by placing the cubed beef chuck roast at the bottom.
  5. Layer the chopped onions on top of the beef, followed by the carrots and potatoes.
  6. Pour the beef broth over the layered ingredients.
  7. If you are using garlic, add that in at this stage along with bay leaves, salt, and pepper to taste.
