  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari use tamari for gluten-free option
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce can be omitted or replaced with oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar coconut sugar is a healthier alternative
  • 1 unit fresh lime juice ensure it’s fresh for the best flavor
For the Stir-Fry
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil can swap for sesame oil for extra flavor
  • 1 pound ground beef (90/10) substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option
  • 1 unit red bell pepper any bell pepper variety can be used
  • 1 unit medium sweet onion yellow or white onions can also work
  • 3 cloves garlic fresh garlic is best, but garlic powder can substitute
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves dried basil works in a pinch but won’t be as vibrant
  • 4 servings rice cauliflower rice is a great low-carb alternative
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro optional garnish

Instructions
  1. Whisk together chili paste, soy sauce or tamari, fish sauce, brown sugar, and lime juice in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, cook until browned.
  3. Sauté bell pepper, onion, and garlic in the skillet for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables, stir in basil, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Serve over rice or cauliflower rice, garnished with basil and cilantro.
