Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté 1 pound of ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Add a diced onion and cook until translucent, approximately 4-5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Mix in marinara sauce, crumbled bacon, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let this mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, then stir in grated Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread an even layer of the meat sauce mixture. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top, followed by a layer of béchamel sauce, then sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of cheese on top.
- Cover the lasagna with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
