- Activate the yeast by mixing SAF instant yeast with warm milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Whisk to mix thoroughly.
- Once yeast is frothy, add to dry ingredients along with the egg. Stir gently until just combined.
- Cover the bowl and let the batter rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the poffertjes pan over medium-high heat and grease each divot with butter.
- Fill each divot halfway with batter and cook for 1-2 minutes until small bubbles form.
- Flip the poffertjes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
