Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Activate the yeast by mixing SAF instant yeast with warm milk and letting it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Whisk to mix thoroughly.
  3. Once yeast is frothy, add to dry ingredients along with the egg. Stir gently until just combined.
  4. Cover the bowl and let the batter rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the poffertjes pan over medium-high heat and grease each divot with butter.
  6. Fill each divot halfway with batter and cook for 1-2 minutes until small bubbles form.
  7. Flip the poffertjes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm topped with butter and powdered sugar or other desired toppings.
