For the Filling
  • 1 can Apple Pie Filling Fresh apples sautéed with sugar and spices can also be used.
  • 1 tbsp Apple Pie Seasoning (McCormick) A mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice works well too.
  • 1/2 cup Caramel Sauce (Ghirardelli) Any store-bought or homemade caramel sauce can be substituted.
For the Decoration
  • 1 cup Red Candy Melts Chocolate or other colored melts are great alternatives.
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Chill red candy melts in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  3. Roll out the pie crust and cut into 3x5 inch rectangles.
  4. Mix apple pie filling, caramel sauce, and apple pie seasoning together.
  5. Assemble the pies by spooning filling onto half of the rectangles, brush edges with egg wash and seal.
  6. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal the pies.
  7. Roll out leftover dough scraps to decorate the top of the pies.
  8. Bake the pies for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool the pies on a wire rack for a few minutes.
  10. Use melted red candy melts to attach decorative shapes on top.
