- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and beat until just combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just incorporated.
- Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes (optional).
- Drop rounded dough balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Sprinkle a pinch of coarse sea salt on top of each dough ball.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and the centers are slightly underbaked.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
