  • 0.25 cups Avocado Oil Can be substituted with any neutral oil.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 0.5 cups Hazelnuts Can use pecans or walnuts as alternatives.
  • 0.25 cups Brown Sugar White sugar can be used.
  • 0.25 cups Butter Use cold butter cut into small pieces.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a muffin tin with liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mash the ripe avocado in a large bowl then mix in eggs, milk, vanilla, avocado oil, and maple syrup until smooth.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix, and stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Divide the batter among the muffin liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. For streusel, combine hazelnuts, flour, brown sugar, and cold butter until it resembles coarse sand.
  7. Sprinkle the streusel over the muffin batter and bake for 5 minutes at 400°F, then reduce to 350°F and bake for an additional 13-16 minutes.
  8. Allow the muffins to cool for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
