Prepare Blackberry Sauce
- In a large skillet, combine blackberries, granulated sugar, water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir well and set over medium heat. Bring to a simmer for 5-7 minutes.

- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until resembling coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract until just combined.
Cook Dumplings
- Scoop tablespoonfuls of the dumpling dough over the simmering blackberry mixture. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 12-14 minutes without lifting the lid.
