  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Use cold for tenderness
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Adds moisture and tang
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Adds warmth

Method
 

Prepare Blackberry Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, combine blackberries, granulated sugar, water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir well and set over medium heat. Bring to a simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Make Dumpling Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until resembling coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract until just combined.
Cook Dumplings
  1. Scoop tablespoonfuls of the dumpling dough over the simmering blackberry mixture. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 12-14 minutes without lifting the lid.
Serve Your Blackberry Dumplings
  1. Remove from heat and cool slightly for 5 minutes. Spoon warm dumplings into bowls with sauce drizzled over. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
