Equipment

  • 9x13-inch cake pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • wire rack
  • cookie scoop
  • microwave-safe bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and coat a 9x13-inch cake pan with non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare the vanilla cake mix as directed on the box. Add the required eggs, vegetable oil, water, and orange extract and mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake according to the package instructions, usually around 25-30 minutes.
  4. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes.
  5. Crumble the cooled cake into a large mixing bowl into fine crumbs.
  6. Mix in the vanilla frosting until fully combined, forming a mixture that can be shaped into balls.
  7. Shape the mixture into large balls about the size of a golf ball, or use a cookie scoop for smaller ones.
  8. Make a small hole in each ball, fill with Pop Rocks, seal the hole, and roll back into a ball shape.
  9. Melt the white chocolate melting chips in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  10. Dip each bon bon into the melted chocolate and place on a lined baking sheet.
  11. Sprinkle extra Pop Rocks on top of each bon bon while the chocolate is still wet.
  12. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has set.
