Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Garlic Herb Dutch Oven Bread
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir in the minced garlic and fresh herbs.
  2. Pour in the lukewarm water into your dry mixture, stirring vigorously until there are no dry flour pockets remaining.
  3. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and leave it at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
  4. Lightly flour your work surface and gently turn the dough out onto it. Fold the dough over on itself a couple of times without kneading, shaping it into a round loaf.
  5. About 30 minutes before the second rise ends, place your Dutch oven (with the lid on) in the oven and preheat to 450°F (232°C).
  6. Once your oven has reached the desired temperature, carefully remove the hot Dutch oven. Lift the parchment with your dough and place it into the Dutch oven. Score the top of the dough and cover with the lid. Bake for 30 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
