- Soften the cream cheese by placing it at room temperature for about 20–30 minutes. Combine with dill, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Wash cucumbers under cold water and slice thinly to about 1/8 inch. Pat dry if needed to prevent sogginess.
- Lay out bread slices and spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture on each slice, covering edges.
- On half of the bread slices, layer cucumber slices in a single overlapping fashion.
- Top with remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down, and press gently. Cut into portions for serving.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1–2 hours covered to keep fresh. Assemble just before serving to keep crunch.
