  • 1 lb Boneless White Fish (cod, haddock, basa, or pollock)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice fresh preferred
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika or regular paprika
  • 1 tbsp Chili Powder or Cayenne adjust for heat preference
  • 1 tbsp Red Pepper Flakes adjust according to preference
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tbsp Dried Oregano or fresh oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
For Coating and Cooking
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1 large Egg plus splash of milk for egg wash
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs or regular breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup Neutral Oil like vegetable or canola

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by cutting boneless white fish into 1¼ x 1½ inch pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Coat the fish evenly with this blend and add fresh lemon juice. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Set up a coating station with three bowls: flour mixed with smoked paprika, egg and milk for wash, and panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dredge each marinated fish piece in flour, dip into egg wash, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat ½ inch of neutral oil in a skillet over medium heat, aiming for 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the nuggets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Transfer fried nuggets to a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil and cool slightly.
  8. Serve the Spicy Fish Nuggets immediately with dips or sides like masala fries or garlic rice.
