  • 1 large Egg White Consider a flax egg for vegan swap.
  • 3 scallions Green Onions Chives can be substituted.
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch Replace with potato starch if preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Fish Sauce Use soy sauce for a vegetarian replacement.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Can substitute with light olive oil.
  • 1 teaspoon White Pepper Black pepper can also be used.
For the Finishing Touch
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds Optional for garnish.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chopped shrimp, pork fat, egg white, green onions, cornstarch, fish sauce, garlic powder, sugar, sesame oil, and white pepper. Mix thoroughly until cohesive.
  2. Trim crusts from bread and cut into quarters or triangles if desired.
  3. Spread the shrimp mixture generously over one side of each bread slice, ensuring good coverage.
  4. Decide on your cooking method. For frying, preheat oil to 325°F and fry each slice for 2 minutes on shrimp side.
  5. For air frying, preheat to 350°F and air fry shrimp toast for 7-9 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. For baking, preheat oven to 400°F and bake shrimp toasts for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  7. Cool slightly on a paper towel-lined plate. Optionally garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
