  • 1 log Goat Cheese Any fresh goat cheese works perfectly.
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Feel free to use fresh garlic if preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Essential seasoning for taste.
  • 1 large Egg No direct substitutes suggested.
  • 1 tablespoon Milk Any type of milk works.
For the Coating
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs Substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs if needed.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Thyme Dried thyme can be used as an alternative.
For Frying
  • 2 inches Canola Oil Vegetable oil can be an alternative.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Cut the goat cheese log into 24 small balls, roughly 1-inch in size. Freeze for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix all-purpose flour, garlic powder, and kosher salt.
  3. Whisk together a large egg and milk in another bowl until blended.
  4. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with fresh thyme.
  5. Coat each cheese ball in the flour mixture, dip in the egg wash, then roll in the panko mixture.
  6. Return coated cheese balls to the freezer for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat canola oil in a large pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  8. Fry 4-5 cheese balls at a time for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown.
  9. Remove cheese balls and drain on wire rack or paper towels. Season with salt and serve.
