Ingredients

For the Eggs
  • 4 large eggs Cool thoroughly before peeling.
For the Sausage Mixture
  • 1 pound sausage meat Use preferred type (pork, turkey, or plant-based).
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Adjust according to your sausage's seasoning.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper Substitute with white pepper for a milder taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh garlic can work but may alter moisture.
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder Using fresh onion is possible but can affect texture.
For the Coating
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko breadcrumbs are best for maximum crunch.
  • 1 spray olive oil spray Essential for achieving a crispy finish.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Pot
  • Ice Bath
  • Plate

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by bringing a pot of water to a rolling boil. Gently add the 4 large eggs and cook for 6-7 minutes for a soft-boiled texture. Once done, quickly transfer the eggs to an ice bath for at least 5 minutes to stop the cooking process.
  2. While the eggs cool, combine 1 pound of sausage meat with ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon onion powder in a large mixing bowl. Mix until well combined.
  3. Once the eggs are cooled and peeled, take a portion of the sausage mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a peeled egg in the center and mold the sausage around it.
  4. Prepare a plate with 1 cup of breadcrumbs. Roll each sausage-wrapped egg in the breadcrumbs gently, ensuring they’re fully coated.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the breadcrumb-coated Scotch eggs with olive oil. Place them in the air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Once the eggs are perfectly golden, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm.
