For the Tortilla
  • Small Flour Tortillas Whole wheat or corn tortillas offer a nutritious twist.
  • Oil for Frying Vegetable or canola oil to achieve a crispy texture.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying pan
  • Slotted Spoon

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked crab meat, shrimp, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well mixed and creamy.
  2. Take a small flour tortilla and lay it flat on a clean surface. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of the crab and shrimp filling into the center. Carefully fold the sides over and roll tightly into a bomb shape.
  3. In a frying pan, pour enough oil to cover the bottom by about 1-2 inches. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test readiness by dropping a small piece of tortilla—it should sizzle.
  4. Add a few tortilla bombs to the hot oil, frying for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the bombs with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels. Serve warm with dipping sauces.
